TCP port

A numbered network endpoint used to direct TCP connections to a service.

What an open TCP port means

A TCP port lets one IP address host different services. For example, HTTPS commonly uses port 443, while other applications use different port numbers.

An open result means the checked address accepted a connection on that port at that moment. It may belong to a router, provider, proxy, or server and does not by itself identify software or prove a security problem.
