WebRTC
Browser technology for real-time audio, video, and peer-to-peer data connections.
Why WebRTC can expose IP addresses
WebRTC discovers possible network paths so browsers can establish direct real-time connections. During this process, the page may receive connection candidates containing IP addresses.
Modern browsers often limit local addresses, but behavior varies by browser, network, and VPN configuration. A detected address should be interpreted in context and does not automatically mean the public IP is exposed.
